KCP Visiting Judges

Tabatha was born into the dog world with her grandmother, mother and 2 sisters all being involved. She handled her first dog at 2 years of age in junior handlers and started the way that she wanted to continue by winning. Tabatha grew up handling her family’s home bred English Cocker Spaniels and Irish Setters under the Daykeyne Prefix which she now breeds her Pointers and Akitas under with her husband Mark Bettis.

Tabatha represented Australia at Cruft in the Junior Handlers where she finished third in the world. She had been heavily involved with the Juniors in the dog world judging many handlers finals and being the past President of the ACT Junior Kennel Club of which she is now a honorary life member. In 1993 Tabatha decided that she would like to extend her experience in the dog world by becoming a Judge.

After 16 years of judging Tabatha completed her final studies in 2010 to become an ANKC licensed All Breeds Judge. For Tabatha’s 16th birthday she was given a black and white Pointer bitch Gr Ch Willopoint T Hell N Back (Fate) she turned out to be the first Grand Champion in the breed and produced the first litter of Pointers under the DAYKEYNE prefix. From this there were 7 champions, 3 Best in Show winners and 2 Grand Champions. Daykeyne have had over 10 Grand Champions, numerous Supreme Champions and many Multi Best In Show winners. 1996 saw Tabatha add Cavaliers King Charles Spaniels to her kennel, co-owning with LeChevaliers Kennels and handling the famous cavalier “Hamish” English Ch & Australian Grand Ch Lorankas Dream Lover (Imp UK) to be No 1 Dog All Breeds in Australia. Hamish won over 50 Best in Show including many Specialties to become the Breed Record Holder.

Akitas were to be the next addition to the Daykeyne Kennel 1998 with the first being Multi BIS Grand Ch Bendalock Kiyo Jiro Go. Cedar Ch Mellowpark after Darq was my first bred, owned and handled Multiple Specialty Best in Show winner. The first import was soon to follow (Treason) Grand Champion Redwitch Strike Force (Imp UK) Treason arrived at 3 months old and took Australia by storm winning over 50 Best in Shows to become the No:1 Akita of All Time in Australia. In 2015 Tabatha added Afghans to her kennel bringing in GCHG Aviva Because who is currently the No:1 Afghan bitch in America. Tabatha has judged through many countries including USA, Canada, Ireland, Brazil, Chile, New Zealand, Pakistan and Indonesia. Some specialty show Tabatha has adjudicated over are Pointer, Akita, Boxer, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Golden Retriever, English Cocker, Labrador & English Setter.
