About the KCP

Kennel Club of Pakistan promotes the responsible ownership and breeding of dogs throughout Pakistan through education, registration, training and support schemes and events.

The Kennel Club of Pakistan (KCP) is a non-profit making club. Its surpluses cannot not be used for any purpose other than the objectives of the club and welfare of dogs. KCP is endeavoring, in every way, to promote the general welfare and improvement of Dogs, Dog Shows, Working Trials, Field Trials, Obedience Classes and Tests. The club is responsible for framing and enforcing the rules governing conduct of member, exhibition of dogs and conduct of all Shows, Trials and tests. It also is responsible for arbitration in case of dispute.

The membership of the Kennel Club of Pakistan (KCP) is restricted to five hundred members. Initially, a person has to join as a Temporary Member and after one year he gets eligible to become a Permanent Member. Permanent Members of the Club elect Managing Committee for three years.

It is the sole prerogative of the Managing Committee to approve Permanent Membership of any temporary member. The Managing Committee, out of the Temporary members, approves Permanent Members, based on their active interest to promote the affairs of the Kennel Club of Pakistan.

KCP has a Patron-in-Chief, President, Vice President and a Secretary. The Managing Committee elects offices of the Club for three years term. These officers are ex-officio members of the Managing Committee. The Permanent Members of the Club elect Managing Committee for a term of three years.

The Managing Committee of the Club is the most important Committee as it has all the powers to manage all affairs of the Club. Managing Committee can constitute any sub-committees to facilitate disposal of the Club's business. Managing Committee can delegate any of its powers and functions to any Sub-committee and likewise, allows it to revoke or amend, at any time, such delegation. However, sub-committees have no powers to suspend or disqualify any person. These powers can only be exercised by the Managing Committee.

Objectives of the KCP

The Kennel Club of Pakistan (KCP) is committed to looking after the canine interests in Pakistan. It is a non-profit organizations, having reciprocal arrangements with the two biggest Kennel Clubs in the world i.e. the American Kennel Club (AKC) and the Kennel Club of England (The KC). KCP is a Full Member of Belgium based Federation Cynologique International (FCI). It is also member of FCI Asia Pacific Section. KCP has reciprocal arrangements with the kennel clubs of 84 countries of the world and the Pedigrees issued by KCP are recognized in all countries. KCP is the primary registry body for purebred dogs in Pakistan. It is dedicated to encouraging, guiding, and advancing the interests of purebred dogs and their owners and breeders in Pakistan and promoting the knowledge and understanding which dogs can bring to the society.

Besides registry, it provides governance and approves dog shows. It also provides information to all people interested in dogs. The objectives of the club are as follows:

  • To watch and promote canine interests in Pakistan.
  • To promote in every way the general improvement of dogs.
  • To control the registration of dogs, transfer of ownership production of Pedigree Certificates etc.
  • To control and issue Kennel suffixes / Affixes.
  • To approve show judges.
  • To implement code of ethics among members, registered breeders and exhibitors.
  • To give licenses of shows and other canine activities.
  • Enforce laws bylaws and regulations in furtherance of the above mentioned objectives.
