Judges
Becoming a Judge
The Kennel Club of Pakistan is committed to developing knowledgeable, ethical, and competent judges who contribute to the preservation and improvement of purebred dogs in Pakistan. Judging is both a privilege and a responsibility — a judge must possess a thorough understanding of breed standards, canine anatomy, movement, temperament, health, and the principles of fair competition.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants wishing to enter the KCP Judge Education Programme must:
- Be of legal age.
- Be a member in good standing of KCP.
- Have a minimum of five years of active involvement in canine activities as a breeder, exhibitor, handler, club official, or in another responsible role within the dog community.
- Demonstrate a genuine interest in canine education and breed improvement.
The Judge Education Programme
The KCP Judge Education Programme consists of three stages:
1. Theoretical Education
Candidates receive education in canine anatomy and movement; genetics and breeding principles; breed standards; dog health and welfare; show procedures and ring protocol; and KCP and FCI regulations.
2. Practical Training
Candidates work under the guidance of experienced judges and gain practical experience through ring observation; stewarding and show administration; breed evaluations; the preparation of written critiques; and breed-specific education.
3. Examination
Candidates must successfully complete both theoretical and practical examinations before being approved as KCP Breed Judges.
Advancement Opportunities
After gaining experience as a Breed Judge, judges may apply to judge additional breeds, become a Group Judge, or progress toward All-Breed Judge status. KCP encourages continuous learning and professional development throughout a judge’s career.
