German Shepherd Specialty Show Regulations

German Shepherd Specialty Shows are conducted by the German Shepherd Dog Club of Pakistan (GSDCP), an affiliated breed club of the Kennel Club of Pakistan (KCP). These events are conducted in accordance with the official FCI Breed Standard for the German Shepherd Dog.

German Shepherd Specialty Shows provide breeders, exhibitors, and judges with an opportunity to evaluate dogs against others of the same breed, with particular emphasis on breed type, anatomy, movement, temperament, and overall quality. These events play an important role in preserving and improving the breed while assisting breeders in selecting superior breeding stock.

Unlike ordinary KCP Championship Shows, German Shepherd Specialty Shows follow a specialized judging system based on internationally accepted German Shepherd show practices.

Within the KCP system, German Shepherd Specialty Shows are conducted in the following formats:

• Ortsgruppe (OG) Show
• Landesgruppe (LG) Show
• Sieger Show

Although each event serves a different purpose, they all follow the same basic judging principles, class structure, and grading system described in these regulations.

Organizing Authority

German Shepherd Specialty Shows are organized by the German Shepherd Dog Club of Pakistan (GSDCP) as an affiliated breed club of the Kennel Club of Pakistan.

All German Shepherd Specialty Shows shall be conducted with the prior approval of KCP and in accordance with KCP Rules and Regulations.

Following each event, GSDCP shall submit the complete official results to KCP for verification and permanent recording in the KCP Registry.

Objectives

The objectives of German Shepherd Specialty Shows are to:

• Preserve and improve the German Shepherd Dog.
• Promote responsible breeding.
• Evaluate breeding stock under specialist judges.
• Encourage correct breed type, anatomy, movement, temperament, and working ability.
• Assist breeders in selecting suitable breeding stock.
• Promote education among breeders, exhibitors, and judges.
• Maintain accurate permanent records for future breeding decisions.

Event Types

The following German Shepherd Specialty Shows may be conducted by GSDCP:

Ortsgruppe (OG) Show

The Ortsgruppe (OG) Show is a local German Shepherd specialty event intended to encourage participation and provide exhibitors with regular opportunities to compete under specialist judges.

Landesgruppe (LG) Show

The Landesgruppe (LG) Show is a regional German Shepherd specialty championship conducted on a larger scale than an OG Show. It attracts stronger competition and provides breeders with an opportunity to compare breeding programs at regional level.

Sieger Show

The Sieger Show is the premier German Shepherd specialty event conducted by GSDCP.

It represents the highest level of competition and includes additional championship titles and special competitions.

Coat Varieties

Both officially recognized coat varieties shall be judged.

• Stock Coat
• Long Stock Coat

The two coat varieties shall always compete separately.

No competition shall take place between Stock Coat and Long Stock Coat dogs.

Sexes

Each coat variety shall be judged separately for:

• Dogs
• Bitches

Class Structure

The following classes shall be conducted separately for each coat variety and for both sexes.

Minor Puppy

Age: 6–9 months

Gradings:

• Very Promising
• Promising
• Sufficient
• Cannot be Judged

Puppy

Age: 9–12 months

Gradings:

• Very Promising
• Promising
• Sufficient
• Cannot be Judged

Junior

Age: 12–18 months

Gradings:

• SG (Very Good)
• Good

Youth

Age: 18–24 months

Gradings:

• SG (Very Good)
• Good

Adult

Age: 24 months and above

Gradings:

• VA (Excellent Select)
• V (Excellent)
• SG (Very Good)
• G (Good)

Judging Procedure

Judging shall begin with Stock Coat Dogs followed by Long Stock Coat Dogs.

Within each coat variety:

• Male classes shall be judged first.
• Female classes shall follow.

Each class shall be completed before proceeding to the next class.

The Judge shall evaluate each exhibit for:

• Breed Type
• General Appearance
• Head
• Dentition
• Pigmentation
• Neck
• Topline
• Chest
• Forequarters
• Hindquarters
• Bone
• Feet
• Tail
• Coat Quality
• Overall Balance
• Movement
• Temperament
• General Condition

Movement Assessment

Movement is one of the most important aspects of the German Shepherd Dog.

The Judge shall evaluate:

• Reach
• Drive
• Coordination
• Topline in Motion
• Front Movement
• Rear Movement
• Overall Efficiency

Temperament Assessment

Temperament shall be observed throughout the judging process.

The Judge shall evaluate:

• Confidence
• Self-assurance
• Stability
• Alertness
• Reaction to the surroundings
• Overall character

Class Placings

Dogs shall be graded according to quality and placed according to merit.

The Judge shall normally place the first four dogs in each class.

Judge’s Critiques

The Judge shall dictate critiques for every dog in each class.

GSDCP shall record these critiques at its own events and submit them to KCP for permanent recording in the KCP Registry.

The critiques shall become part of the permanent KCP Registry.

Sieger Titles

Depending upon the event type and the quality of the exhibits, the Judge may award:

• Sieger
• Siegerin
• Reserve Sieger
• Reserve Siegerin

During the Sieger Show, additional titles may also be awarded, including:

• Junior Sieger
• Junior Siegerin
• Youth Sieger
• Youth Siegerin
• Veteran Sieger
• Veteran Siegerin

The Judge is not obliged to award any title if the exhibits do not possess sufficient merit.

Progeny Group Competition

The Progeny Group Competition shall be conducted only during the German Shepherd Sieger Show.

Eligibility requirements:

• Minimum six progeny.
• Progeny must be from at least three different dams.
• All progeny must be present and exhibited.

The Judge shall evaluate the overall consistency, quality, and breeding value demonstrated by the group.

Additional perpetual trophies and commemorative awards may be presented by GSDCP with the approval of KCP.

Results

Following completion of the event, GSDCP shall submit the official results to KCP.

The following information shall be permanently recorded within the KCP Registry:

• Sieger Titles
• Progeny Group Results
• Judge
• Event Details
• Date
• Venue

Each dog’s profile shall be updated automatically.

Judge’s Discretion

The Judge shall evaluate every exhibit solely on its individual merit and in accordance with the official FCI Breed Standard.

The Judge is not obliged to award any grading, placement, or title if the exhibit does not meet the required standard.

The Judge’s decision shall be final.

• German Shepherd Specialty Shows are organized by the German Shepherd Dog Club of Pakistan (GSDCP), an affiliated breed club of KCP.
• All events require prior approval from KCP.
• All official results shall be submitted to KCP for permanent recording.
• Stock Coat and Long Stock Coat dogs shall always be judged separately.
• German Shepherd Specialty Shows do not follow the standard KCP Championship Show format.
• The grading system replaces the CAC and CACIB award system used in ordinary championship shows.
• Judge’s critiques shall form part of each dog’s permanent KCP record.
