KCP Point System
The KCP Point System provides a transparent, merit-based measure of a dog's performance in the show ring. Every dog earns points according to the number of dogs it defeats in competition: the further a dog progresses, the more dogs it defeats and the more points it earns. Points are calculated automatically by the KCP Digital Ring Management System after every eligible show. No points are entered by hand.
Eligible events
KCP Championship Points are earned only at official KCP-sanctioned championship shows whose results are formally recorded and published by KCP:
- KCP National Championship Shows
- FCI International CACIB Shows
- KCP-approved affiliated club CAC Championship Shows
- KCP-approved breed speciality Championship Shows organised by affiliated clubs
Open Shows, Cup Matches, Breed Surveys, field trials, training events and any non-sanctioned or informal event earn no KCP Championship Points. German Shepherd Dog Club of Pakistan shows are not included at present: they operate a separate Sieger grading system and do not award the KCP CAC certificate. They may be added later only if KCP approves a separate points conversion.
Eligible dogs
A dog must be registered with the Kennel Club of Pakistan and must have taken part in an eligible show. A catalogue entry alone is not enough — a dog recorded as absent or withdrawn earns nothing and does not appear in the rankings.
How points are awarded
Points equal the number of dogs defeated at the dog's achievement.
Class competition
Within each class a dog earns points according to the exhibits it defeats. In a class of ten dogs:

Breed competition
Best of Breed earns points equal to the total number of dogs exhibited in that breed. If 18 dogs are entered in a breed, Best of Breed earns 18 points. Best of Opposite Sex and other breed awards earn points according to the dogs defeated.
Group competition
Best in Group earns points equal to the total number of dogs competing in that group. If 42 dogs are entered in a group, Best in Group earns 42 points. The remaining placements earn points according to the dogs defeated.
Best in Show
Points equal the total number of dogs exhibited at the show. If 200 dogs are exhibited:

The same principle applies at any entry level.
The Highest Award Principle
Only a dog's single highest achievement at a show counts. A dog that wins its class, a CAC, Best of Breed, Best in Group and Best in Show is credited with the Best in Show points only. Points from lower levels of the same show are never added together.
Certificates earn no points
CAC, J-CAC, V-CAC, CACIB, FCI-CACIB-J and FCI-CACIB-V earn zero direct points. They count towards championship titles, which are separate from KCP Championship Points.
Show season
The show season runs from 1 June to 31 May. The first season under this system is 1 June 2026 to 31 May 2027, and each following season runs on the same annual cycle.
Where points are used
Pakistan Grand Champion. A dog that already holds the title of Pakistan Champion and has accumulated a minimum of 500 KCP Championship Points becomes eligible for Pakistan Grand Champion.
Hall of Fame – All Time Best. A dog must hold a minimum of 800 total KCP Championship Points to qualify. Career points accumulate throughout a dog's lifetime and never reset at the end of a season. The 800-point figure is an All Time Best eligibility threshold only: it is not the Grand Champion requirement, and reaching it does not by itself create a further championship title.
KCP Dog of the Year. The dog with the highest points earned within a single season. Seasonal points are counted separately from career points.
Grand Champions from before the points system
Dogs holding the title of Pakistan Grand Champion before 1 June 2026 carry a one-time opening balance of 500 KCP Championship Points. This recognises a show record the system could never calculate, as those results predate automatic scoring. The 500 points are the complete historical balance; earlier results are not recalculated or added separately.
Points earned at eligible events from 1 June 2026 onward are added to that balance. A historical Grand Champion that later earns 75 qualifying points stands at 575 and needs a further 225 points to reach the 800 required for the All Time Best list. In total, a historical Grand Champion must earn 300 new points in addition to its 500-point opening balance to qualify for All Time Best.
The credit applies once, and only to Grand Champions from before that date. A dog already named on the published All Time Best list keeps its published balance instead, and never receives both. A dog earning Grand Champion under the current rules already holds 500 earned points and receives no additional credit.
Recording, verification and correction
Officials record awards, not points. Points are calculated from the awards given in the ring and the catalogue entry counts for each competition, and are published to the dog's KCP profile after the show. Any query about a recorded result should be raised with the Kennel Club of Pakistan, which will verify it against the official show record and correct it where an error is confirmed. Corrected results are recalculated automatically for that show.
Effective date
The KCP Point System applies to eligible shows held on or after 1 June 2026. Shows before that date keep their historical grades, awards, titles and published results exactly as recorded, and earn no points under this system.
