KCP Cup Match Format

The KCP Cup Match is a friendly and entertaining competition designed to provide exhibitors and dogs with additional ring experience in an informal atmosphere. Unlike Championship and FCI International CACIB Shows, a Cup Match is based on a knockout draw system where two dogs compete directly against each other, regardless of breed, age, or sex.

Cup Matches are intended to encourage participation, improve ring presentation, and promote sportsmanship within the canine community.

Cup Matches are unofficial events. No CAC, CACIB, championship points, or official KCP or FCI titles are awarded.

Objectives

The objectives of a KCP Cup Match are to:

  • Encourage participation by exhibitors.
  • Provide additional ring experience for dogs and handlers.
  • Promote good sportsmanship and friendly competition.
  • Improve handling and presentation skills.
  • Create an enjoyable and engaging event for exhibitors and spectators.

Eligibility

Only dogs registered with the Kennel Club of Pakistan or otherwise approved by KCP shall be eligible to participate. The organizing club may impose additional eligibility requirements where necessary.

Number of Entries

Cup Matches are intended to be small and fast-moving events. Normally, a maximum of twenty (20) entries shall be accepted. The organizing club may reduce this number depending upon available time and venue arrangements. Once the maximum number of entries has been reached, the system shall automatically close further entries.

Competition Format

Unlike Championship Shows, Cup Matches are not divided into classes. All entered dogs compete together irrespective of breed, age, sex, and previous awards or titles.

Competition is conducted through a random draw. Before judging begins, the Show Committee shall conduct a draw to determine the order of competition. Each draw shall pair two dogs against one another (for example, Dog A vs Dog B, Dog C vs Dog D, Dog E vs Dog F).

The Judge shall select one winner from each pair. The winning dog progresses to the next round, and the losing dog is eliminated from the competition.

Successive Rounds

The competition continues in the same manner. At each stage:

  • A new draw shall be conducted from the remaining winners.
  • Dogs compete head-to-head.
  • Winners advance to the next round.
  • Losers are eliminated.

This process continues until only two dogs remain.

Final Round

The remaining two dogs shall compete in the Final Round. The Judge shall select the Cup Winner and the Runner-up. Both dogs shall receive commemorative cups or prizes as determined by the organizing club.

Judging Criteria

The Judge shall compare the two competing dogs based on their overall quality, breed type, soundness, movement, temperament, and presentation. The decision shall be based solely on the merits of the two exhibits being compared and not on their breed, age, sex, or previous achievements. The Judge's decision shall be final.

Awards

The organizing club may present a Cup Winner and a Runner-up. Additional commemorative prizes may be presented at the discretion of the organizing club.

Official Recognition

Cup Matches are unofficial events. Accordingly:

  • No CAC or Reserve CAC shall be awarded.
  • No CACIB or Reserve CACIB shall be awarded.
  • No Junior CAC or Junior CACIB shall be awarded.
  • No Veteran CAC or Veteran CACIB shall be awarded.
  • No championship points shall be awarded.
  • No KCP or FCI championship titles shall be earned.

Results from Cup Matches shall not contribute towards Pakistan Champion, Pakistan Junior Champion, Pakistan Veteran Champion, Grand Champion, or International Champion. Cup Match results may be published on the KCP website for reference only and shall not form part of the dog's official championship record.

Purpose

The KCP Cup Match is designed to promote participation, learning, and fellowship among exhibitors in a relaxed and enjoyable environment. It provides an excellent opportunity for exhibitors to gain additional ring experience while encouraging friendly competition and strengthening the canine community. By combining a simple knockout format with automated competition management through the KCP Event Management System, Cup Matches will be conducted efficiently while preserving the traditional format that has been successfully followed by KCP affiliated breed clubs for many years.
